The old train pulled into the station and we climbed aboard with childlike excitement. The whistle blew and the sound of the old tracks clacking as we set off on our journey up the mountain to Kuranda. It was an hour trip full of story telling of the history in the 1880s of the tremendous feat to build the railway. It was hot but authentic, cool breezes blew in the open carriage windows. The view of the mountains, valley and waterfalls were timelessly spectacular. A wonderous adventure, loved every minute.

This was all such a great day trip going up on the Skyrail and back via the train. We loved the whole experience. It was an exciting experience that we will remember for many years. All staff were friendly and helpful. Well worth the money.

The passing the waterfall on the train and stopping at Barron Gorge lookout were key highlights. Really enjoyed my time

The train ride, river cruise and sky rail are fantastic. Unfortunately in this quiet period with borders still closed the town basically closes around 1330-1400. Went to the main pub for lunch only to find it closed at 1320. The bird and butterfly attractions are at the top of the town so you need to hussle to visit them I assume it stays open later in high season but a bit disappointed with Kuranda itself

Absolutely fun 8 hr trip! The skyrail was outstanding and of course the train too. Didn't really enjoy the butterfly sanctuary -- Didn't see much butterfly. Had fun too in Army duck rainforest tour and Indigenous dance + boomerang/spear throwing! 💕💕

The train allocates carriages to tourist operators these days. So you get crammed in to the allocated carriages even though other carriages were not occupied. Even though we were allowed to move to a spare seat QR were a bit rude about it. Still a nice informative ride in the train. Funny thing was they perched COVID distancing but were happy to sit unrelated people in the same back to back seats

Adventure started by getting picked up at my motel and dropped off to the train for the journey to Kuranda. The train went through scenic country. When finally arrived in Kuranda, exploring what the town had to offer. On the way home, hoped onto the skyrail for a relaxing time.

Hello, can you tell me how you came to the price for an Adult return cairns to kuranda on the tourist train at $76 ? It seems way over the top . For two of us with a 5 year old boy it will cost us $190 return . That my be ok for cashed up rich tourists , but what about the rest of us who live here in Australia and just want to try out the experience. Damn rip off . thanks for for being another greedy tourist coroporation rouge.
