Great Restaurants, shops and wine bars with amazing food. We ate at Bang Bang, modern Asian the first night beautiful setting, the best red duck curry we have ever had and fantastic service. There are a lot of Mexican, Asian and Japanese restaurants but something to suit everyone. We ate at Three Blue Ducks which was dissapointing and expensive. We took a hot air baloon flight over Byron Bay, everyone should do this it was perfect. Near by places to visit are Bangalow a charming village with an amzing bakery and great shops, only 15 min drive away.

Only stayed two nights, perhaps enough for elderly couple. Good local shops, had reasonable meal at the Services Club. Nearly Xmas so very busy in town and on the beaches. Hard to park car , but walking around local shops easy. Glen Villa Caravan Park good location, and easy walk into town, albeit a bit expensive for our cabin.

Such a beautiful location and people are so warm and friendly. I wish the weather had been kinder however we still had lots of fun. Lots to see and do and will definitely be returning. Fishes Heads is a fabulous restaurant, Crystal Castle for a truly holistic experience, crystal sound bowls, including wonderful gardens, amazing variety of crystals, and a wonderful cafe. Take away from Indian restaurant Bombay to Bryon is great in case of bad weather. Great shopping, also fabulous markets, got a gorgeous thai take away $16 each and we were stuffed, also lovely juices, mango, passion fruit etc, and they were sublime. Great crystals also from Rose Crystal I think. Check out clothing stores though as they do vary in price, (some are dreaming with over inflated prices ;)

Being a person who travels all over NSW for work, visiting Byron at least once a year, I find it is inherently over populated, with literally thousands of vehicles and people pouring into the seaside village killing any peace there may have been. 15 years ago when we first visited, it has become way over priced and over rated as a place to visit in Australia. There is no parking, what parking there is, Council charges $5 an hour! So people won't stay long in town. Be careful of tourist drivers, many drive on the wrong side of the road, pull out in front of you, speed around town and don't know the road rules. Not to mention the bike riders and pedestrians who are constantly on the road disregarding their own safety. Plenty of places to eat, bit hit and miss with quality, ask around and see where the locals eat. Drinking out can be expensive, some more than others. Look around for accommodation, it can also be hit and miss, unfortunately there's not much under $180 a night and that doesn't mean it's good.
